Mrs. Geneva Mooney Perkins, 87, died  Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at her home in Ellijay.

She was born in Gilmer County Sept. 29, 1932. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nana, known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, will always be remembered for her gravy-biscuits and her home-cooked garden vegetables. 

She retired from the Ellijay hospital and also worked at the Griffin-Spalding County Hospital in Griffin as a CNA.

She  is preceded in death by husband of 57 years, Charles A. Perkins Jr.; parents, Alfred and Zonie Newberry Mooney; siblings, Melvin Mooney, Ruby Blanton, Clyde, Hubert and Eugene Mooney.

She is survived by son, Frankie (Jane) Taylor; daughters, Shelia (Wayne) Ogletree, Lynn (Mark) Ellis; grandchildren, Jason (Marija), McKoy, Chris (Crystal) Taylor, Carmen (Alex) Forrester, Kasie (Sam) Huston, Chad (Carol) Taylor, Clint (Carmel) McKoy, Drew Ellis, Marcus Ogletree; great-grandchildren, Lexi McKoy, Nicolas McKoy, Brady Huston, Bailee Huston, Nolan McKoy, Corinne McKoy, Caitlyn Taylor, Caleb Taylor, Conner Taylor, Chloe Taylor, Will Forrester, Jackson Forrester, McClain Taylor, Morgan Kennedy, Cole Kennedy; special nephew, Timothy (Becky) Mooney and son Cameron Mooney; niece Tonya Jordan; siblings, Harold Mooney, Cecil (Joyce) Mooney, Charles (Pat) Mooney, Ernestine Mooney; sisters-in-law, Carrie Lou Johnson, Margaret Perkins; brother-in-law, Freddy Buffington; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Cantrell officiating. 

Music will be by Regina Mathis. 

Pallbearers will be Chris Taylor, Chad Taylor, Drew Ellis, Jason McKoy, Clint McKoy and Brady Huston. 

Interment will be in the Tickanetley Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service hour of 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
