Mrs. Donna Freeman Olander
Mrs. Donna Freeman Olander, of Ellijay, died in her home Friday, Aug. 12, 2016.
She was born in Arkadelphia, Ark., to the late H.L. (Bill) and Verna Greenlee Freeman.
She is preceded in death by granddaughter, Kirsten Olander.
She is survived by daughters, Delisa and Shannan Olander, both of Ellijay; son and daughter-in-law, Randolph and Panitha Olander; and grandchildren, Magen and Thailer Olander, of Rio Rancho, N.M.; sister, Rose Ann Cole, of Decatur; and brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mary Freeman, of Little Rock, Ark.; and nieces and nephew.
She attended Texas Tech University and went on to travel the world as a stewardess with National Airlines. She continued her career as a teacher and a paralegal and retired to the mountains in Ellijay.
She enjoyed traveling the Blue Ridge mountains and Chattahoochee National Forest, with the Amicalola Falls holding a special place in her heart. She deeply loved her puppies, enjoyed playing the piano and was an amazing gardener.
Upon moving to the mountains, she became a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. The peace and comfort she found within her church was only surpassed by her love for God and joy in Christ Jesus.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Blue Ridge, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016. Her ashes will be interred at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her beloved church.
