Miss Mary K. Withrow
Miss Mary K. Withrow, 95, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016. She was born March 2, 1920, in Gilmer County to the late Jack and Emma Plemmons Withrow. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a retired teacher, having worked in the Gilmer County School System for 35 years. She loved farming and was a member of the Cattleman’s Association, along with the Chapter #340 Order of the Eastern Star and the Gilmer County Retired Teachers Association. She was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and will be long remembered for her harmonica performances each year at the Heart Fund Show. She is survived by sister, Ruby Graham, of Sandy Springs; nieces and nephews, J.T. Withrow, Buford Withrow, both of Ellijay, Jack Dover, of Blue Ridge, William E. Bailey, of Smyrna, Robbie Graham Exley, of Woodstock, Willie, G. Adams, of Atlanta, Donna G. Sams, of Sandy Springs, Becky Graham, of Atlanta, Hilda G. Green, of Smyrna, Beth Fawcett, of Mableton, Pearl Withrow, of Ellijay; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 24, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. James Holt and the Rev. Sam Burcham officiating. Music was by Doug Simonds. Pallbearers were Emmett Farist, Kevin Farist, Donald Dale, Jerry Barnes, Jim Parks, Rick Jasperse and Roy Dobbs. Honorary pallbearers were The Eastern Star #340, Retired Teachers and the Cattleman’s Association. Interment followed in the Mountaintown Baptist Church Cemetery.
