Maxine Towery Griffith

Mrs. Maxine (Towery) Griffith, 91, of Ellijay, died Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

She was born March 24, 1931, in Whitestone, to the late William Marshall and Clara Moses Towery.

She was a member of Whitestone Baptist Church and graduated from Gilmer High School in 1949 and retired from Mosley Tractor & Supply.

She is preceded in death by husband, J.T. Griffith; brothers, J.R. Towery, Charles Towery, Harold Towery; sisters, Eula Towery Botts; and grandson, Adam Griffith.

She is survived by sons, Joseph T. Griffith, of Ellijay, and Dennis and Susan Griffith, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; grandchildren, Mathew Griffith, Eric Griffith; great-grandson, Jonathan Tyler Griffith; brother, Earl Towery, of Ellijay; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Whitestone Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Nelson and the Rev. Byron Tillery officiating.

Interment will follow in the Whitestone Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Doug Towery, Joe Towery, Matthew Griffith, Jeff Floyd, Tim Booth, Eric Griffith, Jonathan Mosley and Michael Watkins.
