Mary K. Griffin

Mrs. Mary K. Griffin, 84, of Ellijay, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.

She was born May 22, 1938, in Wilkes County, to the late James and Lila Mae Calloway Swanson. She was retired from Walmart and was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by husband, the Rev. E.D. Griffin.

She is survived by son, Eddie Griffin; daughter, Rita Keener; brothers, Freddie Swanson and Murl Swanson; sister, Frances Smith, of Kennesaw; grandchildren, Matthew Keener and Adam Keener; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.   

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Hensley and the Rev. Jamie Kerr officiating.

Interment was in the Chastain Memorial Park in Blue Ridge.

Pallbearers were Matthew Keener, Adam Keener, Joseph Keener, Nicholas Chadwick, Landen Siniard, Randy Chadwick.

Honorary pallbearer was Nathan Keener.

Donations can be made to the Salem Baptist Church Food Pantry, c/o Gary Hyde in memory of Mrs. Griffin.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
