Leroy Eugene Rice

Mr. Leroy Eugene Rice, 80, of Cherry Log, died Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.

He was born Jan. 6, 1942, in Culberson, N.C., to the late William Everett Rice and Cristabell Kisselburg Rice. He worked for Builders Choice and was a member of Cherry Log Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by brother, Clyde Rice.

He is survived by wife, Kathey Chastain Rice; daughters, Karen (Alex) Henson, of Ellijay, and Rebecca (Mitchell) Reed, of Cherry Log; sisters, Modean Rice, of Culberson, N.C. and Pauline (Max) Ware, of Culberson; sister-in-law, Helen Rice, of Dallas; grandchildren, Ashley (Jeff) Cameron, Nicholas Reed, Nicole (Wyatt) Starnes, and Kelly Henson; great-grandchild, Lyra Beau Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Brown, the Rev. Jamie Kerr and the Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Interment was in the Cherry Log Baptist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeff Cameron, J.W. Chastain, Jeff Chastain, James Aaron, Mark Aaron and Joe Bouhl. Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
