Mr. Larry E. Mulkey, 74, went home to be with the Lord Aug. 5, 2022.

Born Feb. 13, 1948, in Ellijay, to the late Waldo D. and Jewel V. (Mullinax) Mulkey He was a lifelong resident of the Barberton / Akron area.  A veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U.S. Army, he retired from P.P.G. Co. in Barberton after 21 years of service and was also the secretary treasurer for the union.

Previous to P.P.G., he was a realtor with Boebinger Realty for 20 years.  He attended Grace Church in Norton for many years and sang in the church choir.  An avid Barberton Magics basketball fan, he will also be remembered for his love of gospel music, long convertible rides with his wife, being a hardworking father and his love for all dogs.  Sadly, he leaves behind his sweet buddy Champ.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Jerry Mulkey; sister, Lorene “Snook” (Hollis) Reece; brother-in-law George Hall. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn; son, Gregory (Tamara) Mulkey, of Barberton; daughter, Carmen Smith, of Copley; grandchildren, Noah Smith and Gracelyn Mulkey; sister, Ernestine Hall, of Ellijay; sister-in-law, Margie Mulkey, of Stow; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. at Grace Church of Norton, 3970 South Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Norton, OH 44230 with Pastors Robert Combs and Jake Nelson co-officiating.

Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.  Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
