Mr. Johnny Kowitz, 73, of Ellijay, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016.
He was born June 5, 1942, in Gilmer County to the late Fred and Pearl Evans Kowitz. He was a salesman in the clothing department for Ace Hardware and was a member of Pleasant Gap Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by sister, Lois Kyle.
He is survived by wife, Elsie Abercrombie Kowitz; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Clayton and Steve Dalrymple, Tammy and Bobby Defoor, all of Ellijay; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Connie Kowitz, of Woodstock; sisters and brother-in-law, Jewell Green, Betty and Clifford Elliot, all of Ellijay; brother in-law, Jack Kyle, of Woodstock; four grandchildren, Joseph Clayton, Mallory Clayton, Isaac Defoor and Noah Defoor.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Banks, the Rev. Chris Chastain and the Rev. Roger Burgess officiating.
Music was by Wesley and Amy Banks and Sandra Sanford.
Pallbearers were Isaac Defoor, Noah Defoor, Mark Kyle, Gary Kyle, Jerry Wallace and Tim Kowitz.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Wright, Bob Parks, Jeff Wright, Cameron Sanford, Kenny McClure and Collan Sanford.
Interment followed in the Pleasant Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.
