Joe Lester Mullinax

Mr. Joe Lester Mullinax, 94, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

He was born in Gilmer County Feb. 12, 1928, to the late Clifford and Lillie Ellis Mullinax. He worked many years in the textile industry and was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by three of his children, Carolyn Bridges, Willard Mullinax and Betty Sue Green.

He is survived by beloved wife of 75 years, Bessie Mae Sanford; children, Helen and Joe Patterson, Patricia Lands, Geneva Callihan, Donna and Ruel Johnson, Patsy Ann Mullinax, Penny and Roy Carroll, Cricket Mantooth; brother, Jesse Mullinax; and 20 grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Anthony Lands and Chad Lands officiating.

Interment was in the Yukon Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Joe Carroll, Scott Carroll, Robbie Thurman, Patsy Mantooth, Brandon Johnson, Kevin Findley and Steven Holmes.
