James R. Agan
Mr. James R. Agan, 78, of Ellijay, died Saturday, July 21, 2018.
He was born April 22, 1940, in Anniston, Ala., to the late Starling and Annie Freeman Agan. He graduated from Centre, Ala., High School, served in the U.S. Army and retired from Inland-Rome where he worked as a heavy equipment operator.
He was a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church and the Whitepath Creepy Crawlers.
He is survived by wife, Mary Nell Agan; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Donna Agan, of Centre, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Randall Pynther, of Rome; stepchildren, Richard Chase, of Kennesaw, Michael and Candice Chase, of Cartersville, Brent Sanford, Amy Sanford, both of Ellijay; special friends, Evans Ensley, Rois Ledford, Waldo Pierce, Sophia Schenk, and Kenneth Grizzle; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Townley, the Rev. Billy Dotson, the Rev. Coy Richards and the Rev. Chris Chastain officiating.
Music was by the Clear Creek Church Choir.
Pallbearers were Brent Sanford, Justin Davenport, Mitchell Bowen, Edward Casey, Lee Chase, Michael Chase, Colt Pynther and Gary Hyde.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Whitepath Creepy Crawlers.
Interment was in the Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with graveside rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
