Mr. James “Jim” Wade Stanley, 76, passed away early Friday morning, Sept. 20, 2019, at his home in Henderson, Tenn.

He was born May 13, 1943, in Cherry Log, to the late Lewis Monroe and Florence Lautrelle Mann Stanley. He grew up in north Georgia and was a 1962 graduate of Calhoun High School and attended Berry College for two years. He married Glenda Holloway in 1968. They lived in Atlanta and later Ellijay, where he spent the majority of his career in computer technology in the carpet industry in north Georgia. They moved to Henderson, Tenn., in 2001.

He was an avid golfer, having played on the golf team, as well as the basketball team in college. After his retirement, he continued to enjoy playing golf. He also enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and spending time with his grandchildren.

While in Georgia, he served as an elder of the Ellijay Church of Christ. He was a current member of the Estes Church of Christ in Henderson.

He is preceded in death by sister, Kathie Queen.

He is survived by wife, Glenda Holloway Stanley; daughters, Michelle McCaskill (John), Heather Stanley, both of Henderson, Cyndi McQueen (Kevin), of Parsons; son, Jonathan Stanley (Miranda), of Villa Rica; sister, Imogene Forbes (Hank), of Ellijay; brother, Ray Stanley (Ann), of Chatsworth; eight grandchildren, Jesse McCaskill, Alex McCaskill, Andrew McCaskill, Sierra Dove, Marissa Dove, Coleman Dove, E.J. Stanley and Lewis Stanley.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson’s Crook Avenue Chapel with John McCaskill and Doug Burleson officiating. 

Burial was in Estes Cemetery.
