James Howard “Jimmy” Cantrell
Mr. James Howard “Jimmy” Cantrell, 66, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016.
He was born Aug. 24, 1949, in Gilmer County, to the late Howard and Audra Mullinax Cantrell. He graduated Gilmer High School class of 1967 and Pickens Tech in 1969, was a veteran serving with the U.S. Army and a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. He retired after 34 years of operating Cantrell’s Used Parts, and for the past three years worked for Gilmer County Airport.
He is preceded in death by brother, Daryll Cantrell.
He is survived by daughter, Shelly Wingate, of Ellijay; grandchildren and spouse, Corey and Haley Cantrell, Will, Cooper, Lily and Lawson Wingate; brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and Melanie Cantrell, of Ellijay.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Hood and the Rev. Paul Richards officiating.
Music was by Leta Hood and Shirley Suddeth.
Pallbearers were Randall Ponder, Harold Plumley, Randy Dyer, Wendell Teague Brett Cantrell and Travis Cantrell.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Gilmer County Airport Authority.
Interment was in the Yukon Cemetery.
