Jack Dempsey Johnson

Mr. Jack Dempsey Johnson, 78, of Ellijay, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018.

He was born June 20, 1939, in Duluth, to the late Otis Benjamin and Mary Idell Payne Johnson. He was the owner of Jack Johnson Heating and Air and a member of the Swanee Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by parents; and son in-law, Kenneth Lovett.

He is survived by wife, Betty Johnson; daughters, Wanda Lovett and Mona Garner, both of Ellijay; brother, Carl Johnson, of Lula; sister, Margie Barrett, of Lawrenceville; seven grandchildren, Jessica Kinne, Jacqueline Long, Travis Lovett, Erica Lovett, Amanda Maddox, Elizabeth Smith and Austin Garner; five great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Long, Breanna Long, Christopher Kinne, Bronwyn Maddox and Vanora Maddox.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Youngblood and the Rev. Emuel Sanford officiating.

Music was by Ashley Johnson.

Pallbearers were Travis Lovett, Austin Garner, Steve Johnson, Hans Garner, Matt Maddox, Frank Smith and Juergie Landstrom.

Interment was in the Yukon Cemetery.
