Elizabeth Ann Straughan Cochran
Elizabeth Ann (Straughan) Cochran, of Ellijay, passed peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017.
She was born Aug. 18, 1958, in Charleston, W.Va., to the late Shirley Marie (Book) Straughan and the late William Harold Straughan.
She was a graduate of George Washington High School, Charleston W.Va., attended West Virginia University, Ohio State University and completed her education at the University of Georgia.
From an early age, she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian and wanted animals in her life continually and constantly. She achieved both with a lifelong attention to anything with a heartbeat. She was a volunteer for many causes including Southeast GSP Rescue, Susan G. Komen and many more. She trained and showed horses and dogs and enjoyed every aspect of working with animals. She left a lasting imprint of her graciousness and generous spirit on all that knew her.
She is survived by brother, Paul G. and wife, Nancy E. Straughan, of Charles Town, W.Va.; niece, Amy Jarvis; and nephew, Nicholas Robertson.
The family would like to thank everyone at the Compassus Hospice and all of her friends for their caring and loving attention to her well-being and needs.
