Dickey ‘Dick’ Lynn Young

It is with broken hearts and high regards we announce the peaceful passing of Dickey “Dick” Lynn Young, age 90.

He received his reward Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, while living in Eureka, Ill., with wife, Joyce Young.

He was born Jan. 31,1932, in Bridlebit, Texas, in a farmhouse, to Robert (Doc) Eugene Young (d1961) and Tabitha (Tabby) Ann Rivers Young (d1965). He was the baby of 10, all deceased.

He married Jewel Eloise “Weezie” Stephens (d2001)Feb. 18, 1950, in Tulia, Texas. They adopted two children, Stephen Lynn Young in 1957 (d1965) and Lisa Rene Young Anderson in 1960, (husband Mark), of Gilbert, S.C.

After Weezie passed, he married a childhood friend from Turkey, Texas, Alpha Joyce Mullin, in March 2002. They have been married 21 years. He loved the Lord and people.

His life will be celebrated at the Ellijay Church of Christ, 351 N. Main Street Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. This would have been his 91st birthday.

He was passionate about teaching, serving others, spreading God’s word and love and mission work.
