Mr. Dale Conn Lingle, 78, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 7, 2019.

He was born June 24, 1941, the youngest of six children of Shelton Emery Lingle and Ardie Conn Lingle.  He grew up in Crystal Springs, Miss., helping his parents and siblings on the family farm.

After graduating from high school, he attended Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and the University of Mississippi, where he earned his degree in pharmacy.

He worked as a pharmacist in Mississippi and Louisiana before moving to Ellijay in 1970. He opened his own business, Riverside Drugs, in 1975.  Many of Dale’s customers remember him as “Ol’ Dale” from his weekly radio ads.

Dale loved Ellijay and was active in the community. He was an avid supporter of the Gilmer Bobcats, a member of the Jaycees and the Lions Club and he served many years on the Ellijay City Council. He was active in his church.  Most of all, he loved to play golf.  He spent many hours at Whitepath Golf Course and at courses all over north Georgia.

He is survived by children and grandchildren: Catherine and Don Bruce, Shelton Lingle, and Ardin Baughman; Anna Bruce, Journey Baughman and Keller Baughman.

The family will receive friends to share memories of Dale’s life from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at Bernhardt Funeral Home.
