Clarence L. Mealer
Mr. Clarence L. Mealer, 82, of Douglasville, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016.
He was born Oct. 8, 1933, in Gilmer County to the late Daniel Phillip and Lola Turner Mealer. He graduated from Gilmer High School, class of 1951 as valedictorian, was self-employed as a brick mason and was a member of Burnt Mountain Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by wife, Mary Sue Ponder Mealer.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Barbara Mealer, of Newnan; son and partner, Allen Mealer and Emmett Wright, of Birmingham, Ala.; daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Jimmy Bearden, of Carrollton, Karen Williams, of Douglasville; sister, Bonnie Parks, of Dalton; grandchildren and spouses, Gina Spence, Beth Bostwick, Johnny and Candace Powers, Michael Powers, Jessica and Steven Williams, Josh and Jennifer Sewell, Daniel and Nikki Sewell, Heather and Brandon Rice; and great-grandchildren, Bradley Bostwick, Conner Bostwick, Kerri Spence, Dylan Powers, Aaliyah Powers, Addison Sewell, Ava Sewell, Lorin Rice, Sydney Rice, Jacob Sewell, Raylan Sewell; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Holbert officiating.
Pallbearers were Bradley Bostwick, Conner Bostwick, Josh Sewell, Daniel Sewell, Brandon Rice, John Powers and Michael Powers.
Interment was in the Burnt Mountain Church Cemetery in Pickens County.
