Mr. Bobby Gene Barnard, 71, of Palm Coast, Fla., formerly of Ellijay, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, at the Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

He was born June 20, 1948, in Ellijay, to the late Jerry Thomas and Vinnie Gooch Barnard. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient. 

After his time of service, he owned and operated his own business, Barnard’s flooring. Bobby was of the Baptist faith and was a member of DAV. 

He is preceded in death by brothers, Billy Barnard, Joseph James; and nephew, Darrell Bryant.

He is survived by wife of 14 years, Ganene Barnard; daughters and sons-in-law, Alison Barnard and Dakshinamurti Chirravuri, of Australia, Bridie and Mike Fletcher, of Michigan; son, Bradley Rapson, of Atlanta; grandchildren, Samedh, Garrett, Annalissa, Kelsi, Madelyn, Joplin and Astaria; sisters, Ann Barnard and Deborah James, both of Atlanta; stepfather, H.T. James, of Ellijay; nieces and nephew, Lauren, Leslie and Joseph; and special friend, Carol Willingham, of Atlanta.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Norman Gibbs and Brother Larry Tankersley officiating. 

Military honors were performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard in the Logan Funeral Home pavilion.

Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Les Dillard, Lynn Dillard, Benny Tankersley, Bunk Elliott, David Westmoreland and Curtis Davis.
