Mrs. Betty Belle Birdsong died peacefully at her home in Sandy Springs, Thursday, July 14, 2022. She was 89. She is survived by husband, William Birdsong Sr. and sons, William Jr. of Smyrna, and Jeff of Chapel Hill, N.C.

She was born April 1, 1933, to Lyman and Beulah Parsons, of Jasper.

She attended Tate Elementary and High School in Tate, and The Napsonian School of Atlanta. She later graduated from Peace Junior College and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She went on to teach elementary and reschool throughout her life.

Betty was passionate about many things in life. Among them were the North Georgia Mountains, her beloved river cabin in Ellijay, the Georgia Coast, history and people, especially children. She loved life, loved to travel and was always an adventurer at heart.

There will be a memorial service Saturday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m. at Mount Vernon Towers, 300 Johnsons Ferry Rd. NE, Sandy Springs. The program will be officiated by the Rev. Jamie Jenkins of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church.
