Gilmer High School students participate in “Walk Out”
As part of a nationwide demonstration, Gilmer High School students exercised their first amendment rights Wednesday, March 14, at 10 a.m. with a supervised walk out. The National School Walkout was an effort to protest gun violence and to remember the victims of the recent school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. Students walked out of class and gathered in front of the school for 17 minutes — one minute for each of the 17 people killed. Names of the victims were read and a silent prayer was held. GHS student JB Dove, pictured in the video clip reminds students to be respectful of each other, not to bully and to remember "we are all the same."
