Melba Delories Cochran
Melba Delories Cochran, 78, of Robbinsville, N.C., died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at her home in Robbinsville, N.C.
She was born in Mecklenburg County, N.C., April 1, 1939, to the late Dewey D. and Estelle Gibson Wilson. She worked at Walmart in the fabric department.
She is survived by children, Rhonda Garrett and husband, Darrell, of Hiawassee, Debbie Bird and husband, John, of Robbinsville, Jeffrey Grindstaff and wife, Renee, of Hiwassee, Teleka Holbrook and husband, Michael, of Blairsville, and Greg Grindstaff, of Robbinsville; sisters, Faye Sherrin, of Concord, N.C., and Brenda Adams, of San Diego, Calif.; brother, George Wilson, of Highpoint, N.C.; 17 grandchildren, Levi Wachacha and wife, Megen, Emerald Grindstaff, Ethan Garrett and wife, Laura, James Bird and wife, Veronica, Monake Wachacha and husband, Randy, Jeremiah Bird and wife, Cynthia, Zachery Grindstaff and wife, Katie, Jessica Grindstaff, Emily Grindstaff, Madison Grindstaff, Amanda Malow and husband, Joseph, Sarah Holbrook, Eric Holbrook, Ashley Grindstaff, Alex Grindstaff and Krysta Grindstaff; 21 great-grandchildren, Grace and Tyler Wachacha, Mercy and Draven Grindstaff, Blakeleigh and Adilyn Garrett, Jase and Jordan Bird, Benjamen, Aubrie and Amara Wachacha, Daegan, Braylan and Barrett Bird, Sophia Grindstaff, Rylan Robbinette Grindstaff, Trevor, Solomon and Peyton Marlow, Rylie, Rowen and Reece Grindstaff, Eli and Addilynn Grindstaff; many more to come.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at the Church of the Lamb in Robbinsville, N.C.
