Gilmer High recognizes senior softball, volleyball players
Gilmer High School celebrated its softball and volleyball seniors prior to their final regular season games during the last week of September.
Brittani Ballew has played softball for 10 years including the last four at GHS and was a member of two state playoff teams. She has been a member of the Future Georgia Educators Club for two years. She is enrolled in work-based learning, which allows her to work with second grade students at Ellijay Elementary School. After graduation, Ballew plans to attend a local college and obtain a degree in early childhood education.
Marie Goswick has played softball for 13 years including the last four at GHS and was a member of two state playoff teams. She is enrolled in work-based learning and a member of Mount Vernon Church. After graduation, she plans to sign with the Navy, go to boot camp and college to become a nurse and work in sports medicine.
Raiven Pierce has played softball for 12 years including the last three at GHS. She is a member of FFA and the swim and track teams. After graduation, she plans to go to college and become an anesthesiologist.
Armando Tercero has been the GHS softball and basketball manager for three years. He is a member of the Interact Club, Future Educators Club and Beta Club. After graduation, he plans to go to Emory and get a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and eventually open his own business.
Jaylin Stanley has played volleyball for three years at GHS and is also a member of the Beta Club. After graduation, she plans to go to college to become a nurse anesthetist.
Carolina Teague has been a member of the GHS volleyball team for two years. She has run track for four and is the reigning 400-meter champion in Region 6-4A. After graduation, she plans to attend college and become a teacher or study anthropology.
