Allison Robert Henderson
Mr. Allison Robert Henderson, 99, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017.
He was born December 12, 1917. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and graduated Britton High School and attended the University of Oklahoma, in Oklahoma City, where he studied pre-med. He was a retired firefighter with the Oklahoma City Fire Department, and served his country honorably in the United States Navy Coast Guard during World War II. He was also a retiree of Union Camp Corporation as Chief of Fire Protection in Savannah.
He is preceded in death by sisters, Oma Emmitt, Thelma Sue Gilley; and brothers, Floyd Henderson, Frank Henderson and Bill Henderson.
He is survived by wife of 68 years, Marian Porter Henderson; daughters and son-in-law, Jeanie H. Miller, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Diana H. Brantley, of Kennesaw, Donna and Roger Hefner, of Acworth, and Bobbi H. Victor, of Smyrna; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Rubin Smith and the Rev. Dan Rosser officiating.
Music was by Karen Buchanan and Loy Jarrett.
Military graveside service followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were the deacons of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
