Wendell “Alex” Robert Alexander
Mr. Wendell “Alex” Robert Alexander, 95, of Ellijay, died Friday, May 13, 2016, at Cameron Hall of Ellijay.
He was born May 18, 1920, in Jerusalem, N.Y., to the late Robert Sherman Alexander and Mabel Lametta Burk Alexander. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during Wolrd War II. He received his associate degree in mortuary science from the Simmons School of Embalming and worked as a funeral director and embalmer for many years and also owned his own funeral home.
He is preceded in death by wife, Carolyn Gibney Alexander.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Amy and Paul Washuta, of Mineral Bluff; sons and daughter-in-law, Jay and JoLynne Alexander, of Easton, Pa., and Guy Alexander, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Robert Alexander, Meg Alexander, Kassandra Pirkle; and great-grandson, Gabe Pirkle.
A private family memorial service is being planned and will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Homestead HOPE Foundation, 10888 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA 30075 or to the Tri-State Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 419, Blue Ridge, GA 30513 in memory of Mr. Alexander.
