No injuries in 18-wheeler wreck
Towing company owner Max Frady hooks chains to an 18-wheeler that overturned on Highway 52 East the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 24. According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, the semi-trailer’s tires traveled off the shoulder of the highway causing the truck to overturn. Both the truck driver and a witness told authorities that “there was a vehicle partially in the eastbound lane of Georgia 52.” The driver stated he was “attempting to avoid striking the unknown vehicle.” No one was injured in the accident, confirmed Gilmer Fire battalion chief Ben Daniel. Traffic was reduced to one lane for hours as tow truck drivers attempted to put the semi, which was carrying frozen chicken, back on its wheels.
