A taste of this, a taste of that
Albert O’Shields offers samples of his bacon flavored boiled peanuts, as well as three other varieties of the quintessential Southern snack, at the 2016 Taste of Ellijay held on North Main Street Thursday, May 26. Presented by the Gilmer Chamber of Commerce, the downtown food festival offered eventgoers tastes from 27 local restaurants and other vendors. Gilmer Chamber President Paige Green said this year’s event was likely the biggest yet in terms of attendance and tickets sold. “We had a great diversity of restaurants and we sold 54 percent more tickets this year than last year. That tells us in real numbers that there were more people. They were buying more tickets and sampling more food,” Green added. See page 12C for more photos.
