GCSO bust nets multiple hard drugs
Two men and a woman were arrested for drug possession and intent to distribute after a Gilmer County Sheriff’s officer stopped a vehicle last Sunday and determined one of the occupants was under the influence of a drug. K-9 Officer Hella assisted in the arrests.
Charged by Cpl. Andy Page March 5 were James Vinson, 46, of Kingston; Douglas Reid, 30, of Armuchee; and Sarah Howlett, 47, of Rome.
Page conducted the traffic stop just after 1:15 p.m. on a green Chevrolet Tahoe on Highway 515, and determined the driver was changing his story and that everyone in the vehicle had a history of drug use.
Page asked for consent to search the Tahoe and was denied. Officer Hella then conducted an open air search of the vehicle where she alerted.
Upon searching the vehicle, Page found 8.1 grams of heroin, 6.2 grams of cocaine, 3.7 grams of methamphetamines, multiple drug-related objects and a stolen firearm.
The Tahoe was seized by the
sheriff’s office. Vinson, Reid and Howlett remained in the Gilmer County jail Tuesday, according to a spokeswoman.
