Gilmer High to graduate 250

Members of the Gilmer High School 2017 graduating class will turn the tassel on a new chapter of life Friday, May 26. Their graduation ceremony will take place at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m.

Doors will open at 6 p.m., and spectators can enter at the main gate to the stadium. Tickets are not required to attend, and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on ETC3 beginning at 7 p.m.

“In an effort to show students the honor they deserve, GHS asks that all spectators treat the ceremony as a dignified event,” stated a school release.

School officials stressed attendees should not park their vehicles along the side of Bobcat Trail in order to ensure emergency accessibility to the ceremony. The school system will provide complimentary shuttle services for transporting attendees from the parking lots at GHS and Mountain View Elementary to the graduation venue. A limited number of handicap parking spots will be available, but attendees must request a handicapped parking permit from the school in advance.

Senior awards night will be held Thursday, May 25, at 7 p.m., in the Ellijay Elementary School auditorium located at 32 McCutchen St., in downtown Ellijay.

GHS seniors should attend mandatory graduation practices at 8:30 a.m., both Thursday, May 25, and Friday, May 26.

Questions or requests for handicapped parking permits for graduation should be directed to the school at 706-276-5080.

The Times-Courier will feature a special graduation section next week honoring the class of 2017.
