Father, son arrested on pot charges
Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives raided two homes early on the morning of March 31 as part of an ongoing drug investigation and arrested a father and son simultaneously.
Larry Hill, 70, of 6129 Chatsworth Highway, was charged by the Criminal Investigations Division with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a highly concentrated THC oil, a schedule 1 drug. Weighing scales and a money counter were also confiscated, along with almost $31,000 in cash.
Danny Hill, 51, of 11362 Chatsworth Highway, was charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Officers confiscated additional processed marijuana and 117 marijuana plants from a multistage indoor marijuana growing operation.
“We are still fighting the war on drugs in Gilmer County,” said Sheriff Stacy Nicholson.
“(These arrests) are all fruits of the crime of drug distribution. Both father and son appeared to have been conspiring together to provide the illegal substance here in Gilmer and Murray County.”
Other charges related to possession of marijuana will be forthcoming, according to a news release.
Larry Hill and Danny Hill were each released on $15,000 bonds on April 4, according to a jail spokeswoman.
