A frozen waterwheel near a residence off Highway 282 looked as though it could be used for a late Christmas card last week as freezing temperatures that followed New Year’s Day ranged from the low 30s to the single digits.

Cold morning stroll

Richard Morse wisely had his hands, face and the rest of his body covered while taking an early morning walk across the Veterans Memorial Bridge at Ellijay’s River Park last Friday. The University of Georgia Environmental Monitoring Network recorded a low temperature of 9 degrees in Ellijay that morning and a high of 31 later in the day.
