Apple Queen Pageant marks 30th anniversary Sept. 23

The 30th annual Ellijay Apple Queen Pageant, sponsored by the Ellijay Lions Club will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, in the Ellijay Elementary School auditorium. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the club’s many charitable projects in the Gilmer County area.

“The Ellijay Apple Queen Pageant is a time-honored tradition in our community,” observed event director Stephanie Nelson. “It’s a time to come together to support our youth and many needs of our community. Our children are our future, and we need to let them have a time to shine and understand that no matter your age, you can still make a difference. This is accomplished by letting them lend a helping hand at some local events.”
