‘Dog’ checks out the flooding

A blue heeler who lives on Lucius Road and goes by the name “Dog” looks at rain-swollen Cherry Log Creek Sunday around midmorning. Chief Tony Pritchett, director of the county public safety department, said, “We did respond to a large number of trees down throughout the county because of all the saturated soil and the wind, but we did not respond to any calls that were flooding related. With the timing of the heavy rain, we couldn’t have asked for anything better. Because when the river would start to get the bank full, we’d get a reprieve (from the rain). So we were very fortunate.” (Photo by Rhesa Chastain/Staff)
