Carol Daves announced that she has qualified for Clerk of Superior Court of Gilmer County.
For the past 25 years, Daves has served the citizens of Gilmer County as an employee of the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office and, more recently, as an investigator with the district attorney’s office.
She was Gilmer County’s first female deputy and worked her way to investigator and was later appointed captain over the Gilmer County Detention Center where she served for 14 years. In addition, she has been a compliance officer for the Accountability Courts of the Appalachian Circuit for over 10 years.
Daves received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Brenau University and went on to earn a Master’s degree in public administration from Columbus State University. Daves is a longtime resident of Gilmer County and raised her children here. The majority of her lengthy career has been spent in public service to the citizens of Gilmer County.
Daves said, “My goals for the office would include efficiency, fiscal accountability and accessibility while retaining the same personal and friendly service that the residents of Gilmer County expect and deserve. These will always remain my priority.
“Gilmer County is a very special place that I am proud to call home. I believe my experience in law enforcement, my work in the judicial system and my educational achievements would be tremendous assets to the clerk’s office. I look forward to continuing my service to the citizens as their Clerk of Superior Court,” she said. “I will never forget that I work for you and will serve you to the best of my ability. I humbly ask for your vote in the upcoming election.
