Mr. Hayden “Benny” Elliott, 66, of Ellijay, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in Ellijay. He was born in Gilmer County to the late William Dudley and Mary Davenport Elliott.  He was retired from J.M. Huber as a mill operator after 19 years of service.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He especially loved his weekly trips with his brother, David, to Bucktown to check on the deer for hunting season and was an avid NASCAR fan.

He is preceded in death by infant brother, Joseph Elliott; and sister, Jannie Sisson.

He is survived by wife of 29 years, Virginia Hunter Elliott; children, Jacob Elliott, Jason Elliott, both of Jasper, Robert and Adela Tallent, of Topeka, Kan., Gregory and wife LeAnn Tallent, of Vonore, Tenn., Nicole Self, of Ellijay; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Sue Elliott, David and Katie Elliott, all of Ellijay, William Elliott, of Calhoun; sisters and brother-in-law, Cora Mae and Thomas Payne, of Ellijay, and Betty Burgess, of Jasper; grandchildren, Caytlyn Elliott, Brittney Franklin, Jordan Tallent, Logan Tallent, Landon Tallent, Adam Tallent, C.J. Tallent, Hunter Self, Aleea Self, Marlaina, Gage and Michelle Gage; great-grandchildren, Iva Welch, Harper Franklin, Athena Gage and Monty Gage; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and James Stepp, James Hunter, Paul and Charlotte Hunter, Sarah Hunter and Margaret Hunter, all of Blue Ridge,  and Kenneth and Vickie Hunter, of Ducktown, Tenn.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022, from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Jamie Kerr officiating.

Music was provided by Diane DeHart.

Interment followed in the Friendship #3 Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jordon Tallent, Logan Tallent, C.J. Tallent, Adam Tallent, Bryan Elliott, Huston Elliott and Bobby Elliott.

Honorary pallbearers were Clark Stepp, James Stepp, Hunter Self and Alpesh Patel.
