Official qualifying for seats on the Gilmer County Commission and Board of Education begins Monday, March 3, and lasts through Friday, March 7. Candidates may qualify Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

The qualifying fee for commission chairman is $1,957.86, and for Post 2 chairman the fee is $195.79 (3 percent of respective salaries). 

School board Post 4 and Post 5 are also being contested. The candidate qualifying fee is $43.50.

Representatives from the county Democrat and Republican parties will qualify their respective commission candidates. The board of education is non-partisan.

All qualifying will take place at the courthouse in the Probate Court office.
